Lebenszeichen
Hi, just me, yes, I still exist. I've just been quite busy with the move over the last week. I've now moved almost everything into the new flat, only a few things left to carry over or get rid off. I still have a washing machine and a PC to sell (although I might have found someone interested in the PC), if you're interested send me a mail.
My broadband is still in the old flat, so I'm sitting here on a garden chair at a garden table (inside the flat though) while surfing the web and writing this entry. Broadband will be disconnected on Thursday and hopefully reconnected on Monday in the new flat. Meaning I will be offline at least over the weekend.
But as this is a blog I think I should quickly post a few links:
- A bit too much Flash and Java for my liking (and they don't work very well in my Mozilla browser), but nevertheless here are two pages from where I grew up in Germany: Horn-Lehe (that's the part of Bremen I grew up in, my parents still live there) and the Horner Bad (a swimming pool maybe 300 metres from my parents house). Both sites are in German, but what do you expect? After all it's in Germany.
- I don't remember where I found the link to it, but I've just installed KeyNote ("Tabbed notebook and personal information manager"). Seems to be a really great tool to take and organise notes etc. So far I'm very impressed and I expect to continue using it.
- A few days old, but then I haven't blogged since Tuesday: The BBC has a quiz to test what you know about modern manners. Can't say that I fully agree with "Debrett's Guide to Etiquette and Modern Manners" though: According to them you shouldn't invite people who smoke if you don't want them to smoke in your house. Huh? I don't see what's wrong with asking people not to smoke in my house. I mean, is it good manners to say, sorry, I can't invite you because you smoke? And shouldn't any smoker have the manners to ask if the host minds if he smokes? And if the host does mind have the courtesy to go outside?
- Hm, that doesn't sound too promising so far: The Sunday Herald about how the Chinese police is preparing for the 2008 Olympics.
- Luckily I can walk to work, so I might get the higher rent back relatively quick: Petrol duty set to rise?
- One for Stuart: How Dundee is reinventing itself.
That's enough links for now. I'll try to post again before I go offline for the weekend until being reconnected Monday in a week.
