Work shorter?

Now how will this go down with the Europhobes? The EU says Britons need to work longer. Will it receive the typical reaction? We know much better what we need to do, thank you very much! If you tell us we need to work longer we will work shorter, yes, thank you very much! These bureaucrats in Brussels can't tell us how we should work! Or may be not?
