Should I spend or should I save?

The Sunday Herald asks if we should continue to spend money or not, describing the debts some people have accumulated. Strange reading for me, as I've always been careful with debt and don't spend more than I earn. The worrying part is the potential impact on the economy should people be forced to stop spending.
