This meme went around various German Blogs (or at least was in German), so I thought I might avoid it. That was until Herr Koehntopp decided to translate it into English and tag me. I stalled for a while but seeing that so far none of the others he tagged has taken it up I felt I couldn't let his efforts be in vain. So here we go:
Define 'early childhood'? I guess something like "Alle meine Entchen".
Pass. No idea.
Ah, that's easier: Love in a Trashcan by The Raveonettes, I already blogged that last year after returning from this holiday in Scotland.
Pass. Can't think of one. I stand to my tastes.
Pass (again). There probably were a few, but I can't remember.
Argh, this is getting ridiculous. I have no idea. Could be lots.
Huh? So this is only for pop music? Or does classical music count, where a lot is instrumental?
They've written so many, but let's take "You can't always get what you want". Yes, that the Stones.
Who am I? And how can a person be represented by one song?
I'm not very good at this. I can't really associate a song to an occasion.
Beethoven's Symphony No.6, Pastorale. For example in Bernstein's recording of Beethoven: Symphonies Nos. 6 "Pastorale" & 8; King Stephen Overture. Which is playing while I'm writing this entry.
That's one not recorded. The sound of the waves crashing on the shores of Islay, with birds crying overhead. And the sound of an Islay single malt whisky bottle being opened.
Let's go with "Steady, As She Goes" by The Raconteurs for now. It will probably be something different next week.
I don't dedicate songs, for the simple reason that I don't write any. Who came up with this meme?
Doubt that exist. So another one for: Pass
Schubert's Die Forelle (The Trout), in particular when sung by Barbara Hendricks
Kullervo by Sibelius, sung in Finnish. Not that I understand anything, but there's a translation in the booklet. I know, it's a whole symphony, but then I'm not taking 'track/song' too serious here, as you've probably already noticed.
OK, let me switch to something more recent for this one after all the classical music. How about AC/DC's Highway to Hell?
Gallagher and Lyle's "When I'm Dead And Gone" in the version Fury In The Slaughterhouse recorded on Mono. Will that do?
Finally the last one. Let me take one from each world: Springsteen's Born to Run and Mahler's Symphony No. 4.
Are we done? That thing is really long. Anyway, let's see if I can carry this into the UK blogosphere and tag the following:
