Spring Walk

It took much longer than I had hoped and the haze didn't really clear all day, but by early afternoon the sun did start to break through again. Time to go for a walk, despite the limited visibility I decided to go on the Castle Combe to Ford walk as planned earlier.

It turned out to be a very nice walk worth repeating:

I left the car at the Castle Combe car park and walked along and then over Manor House Golf Course, on the way I had a nice view over the roofs of Castle Combe. The path then went along Bybrook river towards Nettleton, a very nice and quiet path.

Turning south I walked past Shrub Farm, over Danks Down and on to Ford. I briefly considered a stop at the White Hart, but then decided to walk on.

Now turning north again I walked along the By Brook until I reached the tiny village of Long Dean. From here the path climbed up Rack Hill before following the valley towards Brook House at the southern end of Castle Combe.

Very late in the afternoon I arrived back at my car after a good six miles (including a short detour) and approx three hours of walking. A very nice walk certainly worth repeating, possibly during the summer and then with a stop at the pub on the way.
