Music Meme

And I was wondering when this thing was going to hit me: Just checked my Technorati Link Cosmos and there it was: ad++ got me on this one. OK then, let's play the game:

1. Total amount of music files on your computer:

658MB apparently. Most of it I haven't listened to in ages. I don't listen to MP3s much if at all. I'm still kind of "old-fashioned" and prefer CDs being played on my stereo.

2. The last CD you bought was:

That's an easy one: delays - Faded Seaside Glamour, bought two days ago in Oxford.

3. What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?

"Long Time Coming" from the album in question 2.

4. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.

Mean a lot to me? No idea. Let's try 5 I like and listen to repeatedly. Not necessarily "songs", but music in general. Music I've listened to for years and still listen to again and again.

  1. Die Forelle by Schubert, in particular the version on Ave Maria - Barbara Hendricks
  2. Depending on my mood the song might change, but something by The Undertones almost never fails. Among the favourites are Teenage Kicks, Jimmy Jimmy, Mars Bars, Here Comes The Summer and My Perfect Cousin.
  3. It usually sends shivers down my back: A Night on the Bare Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky (you can try Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition/Night on a Bare Mountain)
  4. I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) by The Proclaimers. From Sunshine on Leith, which has several other excellent songs as well.
  5. It's getting difficult to make a choice, but I think I'll go with this one: Beethoven: Symphonies Nos. 6 "Pastorale" & 8; King Stephen Overture in a recording by Leonard Bernstein (CD is discontinued).

5. Who are you going to pass this stick to? (3 persons) and why?

Let's see, who hasn't had this yet and who might be interesting...

  1. Stuart, because I can. And because he has an iPod (I think)
  2. The Cartoonist, because he will post all kind of obscure punk music titles and other noise. I guess.
  3. Tobias Lange, because he often blogs about music anyway

Is that it? Done?
